Starting Pitcher Factor In Five Inning Wagering

Starting pitcher factor in five inning wagering

When you place a bet on the first five innings in baseball, your fate is in the hands of the two starting pitchers.  This is a "big" advantage for sports bettors.  This puts the sports bettor that is handicapping a game in a much stronger position since when pitchers come in from the pen it is because the bench pitcher is sent in to face particular hitters.

This helps the sports bettor in a few ways. The sports bettor has a bigger advantage in the first five innings then in the entire game.  The reason got this is that if there is an error in the line, there is a good chance that those later innings will minimize the error.  Of course, this statement is assuming that the error does not originate from the bullpen.

In addition, many conditions can change during the second half of the game that are out of your control for the sports bettor.  Examples would be wind conditions changing or there might be player substitutions and double switches.  Usually during the first five innings sports bettors can look at a known lineup against a known opponent.

Another big advantage of wagering the first five innings of a baseball game is the benefit that always comes when you target a secondary betting market rather than a principal game line.  When sports bettors place a bet on the first five innings, they get to focus on the first half line and study it.  Thus, making better bets and winning more often.

Another big factor when placing a bet on the first five innings is the starting pitcher versus the bullpens.  A strong starting pitcher these days  is mostly good for the first half.  This is a great opportunity to place a bet especially  if the team has a poor bullpen.

In most cases, placing a bet on the first five innings instead of nine reduces the edge of the better team.   This often results in the favorite for the game being a slightly smaller favorite for the first five innings.  This does not seem to matter whether the favorite team is at home or on the road.

In general, I do not suggest that you bet the totals for the first five innings of a game.

Generally, the later innings of a baseball game tend to be lower scoring on average than the first five innings of a baseball game.  This often results in the first five innings totals slightly more than half of the total for full nine innings of the game.

In addition, I suggest that write down the betting lines from the various sports books that you use.  By doing this, you will be creating a historical lines to use as a guide to future games.  You would be surprised how quickly you can gain accurate ranking of the respective bullpens in MLB.

By maximizing your use of all the resources available to the sports bettor,  you will find that it is one of the easiest ways that any player can increase their potential winnings substantially.
