Handicapping trends in the Super Bowl
In handicapping the Super Bowl, you should keep the following in mind:
The AFC leads the NFC in straight up in the big games. In recent years, the only loss came when the Giants upset the Patriots.
In addition, the favorite is just 2-3 against the spread over the past five years, while the under is 4-1. The moneyline favorite is also 4-1.
When betting on the Super Bowl, you should remember that the past trends show that the team that scores first wins just over 64% of the time.
In addition, keep in mind that if a team scores more than 32 points, they usually win straight up in the Super Bowl. If a team scores more than 20 points, Super Bowl betting trends show they have an outstanding 21-1 record.
In the past, if a team failed to score at least two touchdowns, they would be winless in the Super Bowl.
Every single Super Bowl ever played has had at least one touchdown scored in the game and in most of the Super Bowls, there has been at least one field goal converted.
Teams that are leading after the first quarter are 21-10. The team winning at halftime have won the Super Bowl a wopping 80% of the time. In addition, teams that have lead after three quarters of play usually win the Super Bowl.
Finally, the higher seeded team is only 50% straight up in the Super Bowl.
Good luck in betting!
